Tangled: Disney gets a little crunchy.

Did you ever notice that in the Disney version of Rapunzel (I have a 3 year old kid; seeing it was inevitable, and actually somewhat enjoyable despite my grmph-ing), Rapunzel's mom has a birth complication that is treated botanically, saving both her and the baby princess? It's true. With a special flower that imparts the essence of the sun. Skip ahead to about :50 in the opening:

I wonder if she ate the royal placenta? Maybe that's in the DVD extras.

  1. OK, your part about the placenta made me LOL!!! I'll definitely buy the DVD if the queen whips up a royal placenta smoothie.

I also enjoyed Tangled (saw it with a 3- and 4-year-old... the 4-year-old was seeing it for the 3rd time and gave us lots of helpful information about upcoming plot points).

  2. LOL I love it!

Tangled was really cute. There are still some Disney-esque feminist issues, but overall, better. And who am I kidding, I'm a sucker for Disney animated films!

  3. I watched Tangled on a daily basis for a while.. (3 year old) I decided that if her hair healed people, and her tears brought people back from the dead.. her breast milk must be AWESOME!!

  4. I also love how her mom gives her birth at home in bed. :)

  5. I love how Rapunzle is basically an energy healer. I liked this movie as far as Disney princess movies go.
